The new Gartnavel Royal Hospital is the most modern and innovative mental health hospital in the UK. The state-of-the-art £19m hospital has transformed inpatient care and made Glasgow a centre of excellence in the delivery of mental health care. By listening to existing service users and visiting hospitals in other parts of the UK we have created a bright, modern, attractive building which is light, airy and spacious. Imaginative use of windows and landscaping connect the inside of the hospital with attractive external garden and courtyard areas. All 117 beds are provided in single en-suite bedrooms and a community café is helping to break down barriers by giving local people an opportunity to mix with service users and staff.
