Hulley & Kirkwood have provided Engineering Services design support for this new build PFI procured extension to the existing district hospital from ITN stage through to construction completion.
The development comprises of a new 20,000m2 extension housing a range of healthcare services including the following facilities, Burns Unit, Elderly Care Unit, Trauma and Orthopaedic Wards, Plastic Surgery and Maxillo Facial department.
The building has high levels of external façade allowing maximum use of natural ventilation in order to reduce energy consumption. In addition there is also a new laundry with facilities to process 250,000 pieces per day.
