Our Services
Hulley SGS Consultants provide a professional service rarely available to the healthcare sector today. Contract Supervising Officer (MGPS). HTM 02 recommends that the Hospital Authority or other organisation responsible for the medical gas system, appoints a Contract Supervising Offficer (MGPS). The duties Hulley SGS provide are varied and can include some or all of the following:
Design, Design Review and Specialist Advice
Hulley SGS can provide a specialist design and advice service from briefing through to detailed design ensuring that the most appropriate design is provided. They are conversant with the relevant design requirements and will provide a system compliant with the current design standards, such as NHS Estates (S)HTM 2022/HTM 02, NHS Model Engineering Specification C11 and BCGA Codes of Practice. Hulley SGS Consultants can also review third party designs on your behalf which will be enhanced by providing specialist advice for all medical gas installation issues.
Installation Inspection
Hulley SGS Consultants are fully conversant with installation guidelines and good practice and will ensure systems are reviewed in full. They can liaise with main contractors and review and report on the quality of installation, recommend changes to working practices and regularly assess the specialist medical gas contractor’s Competent Persons Certification (MGPS).
Validation & Verification On completion of installations
Hulley SGS Consultants can witness system validation tests on your behalf. This includes all tests in compliance with the current NHS guidelines (HTM 2022, HTM 02, SHTM 2022) for medical gas installations and BCGA Codes of Practice for laboratory and industrial installations. Hulley SGS Consultants will review all validation documentation including operating and maintenance manuals and installed drawings.

Survey
Hulley SGS can provide various survey reports such as feasibility reports for new, existing and extension of existing installations reporting on findings and solutions to meet current requirements. IHEEM Registered Authorising Engineer (MGPS). In compliance with HTM 00 and HTM 02-01 Part B, Hospital Authorities are recommended to appoint an independent consultant to provide Authorising Engineer (MGPS) services.
Ian Sandford is a registered AE (MGPS) and can provide this services for healthcare Trusts, Health Boards, Private FM providers and private hospitals, covering the UK, Ireland and Overseas where HTM guidance is used.
Whilst the services indicated in HTM 02-01 Part B will be provided, Hulley SGS can provide additional services to meet your particular needs.

Medical Gas Systems Familiarisation Training
Hulley SGS can provide site specific training for senior managers, engineering managers, etc. The training typically lasts over a day and includes overview of medical gas systems and specific provision of medical gases the attendees are responsible for.
