Project Title: Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow
Client: Glasgow City Council
Project Value: £27.9m
Hulley contact: Robert McNish
Extensive work has taken place on this landmark museum with a complete replacement of the existing M&E installation throughout the Exhibition Areas and Galleries and provision of a comprehensive security system throughout.
Work was carried out, both to the structure and fabric of the building including works to the roof, maintaining the internal drainpipes and restoration work in the interior.
Hulley & Kirkwood replaced M&E plant and distribution systems, some of which were 100 years old. The most ambitious part of the scheme was excavation work carried out in the basement that has created an extra 1,789 meters of space. This has formed a new entrance to the museum at ground level as well as a shop, café, restaurant and a new lecture theatre.
