2a – 6 Albyn Place was purchased by our client with the intension of providing a modern office facility. The building was extender at the rear where a passenger lift and the main escape stair were formed thus allowing additional office accommodation to be formed in the main floor plates. Basement level was had an extremely tight floor to ceiling space making a mechanical and electrical solution particularly challenging. Services included full lighting and power installations, data, fire alarm and passenger lift installations. Although natural ventilation was used where ever possible, mechanical installations included ventilation and comfort cooling systems. In addition simple systems requested by the client were also incorporated into the design. This included a master light switching arrangement which allowed all the lighting to be controlled for a master light switch on a floor by floor basis.
