This building provides mainly Teaching and limited Research Facilities within 10,000m² of Accommodation. The Building will be home to some 1,200 Students at First Degree and Post-Graduate Level in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Podiatry and associated Paramedical Specialities. The Building responds to the needs of maximising floorplate within a restricted budget, a very constrained site, interconnections to existing Buildings and a height restraint. The result is a fairly tight slab to slab level of typically 3.4m. Many Areas have simple heating by radiators and opening windows for natural ventilation. A small proportion of the area is for basic Teaching Laboratories which have fume cupboard extracts and supplementary mechanical supply ventilation. Other services are provided to support what is mainly a Teaching Function.
