Further & Higher Education

Project Title: Glasgow University Bower Building

Project Value: £6.5m

Hulley contact: Simmy Telfer

The Bower Building, which was built at the end of the 19th Century, was damaged by fire in October 2002. This Building, which is listed, houses the Department of Botanical Studies.  Only the shell of the building was retained and the building was fitted out to provide a state of the art Research Facility.  The Facility included fume cupboards, safety cabinets and light rooms covering a complexity of services.  The usable floor area was increased by over 25% to 3,200m² as part of the fire reinstatement works.
