The Cardonald College project comprises 6000m² of new build Industrial Skills Centre and Family Centre (£8.3m) together with refurbishment of 17,000m² of Tower Block accommodation (£8.6m). Key design objectives - sustainable design concepts demonstrated via building modelling and thermal simulations. The Industrial Skills Centre comprises teaching workshops, classrooms and staff accommodation. Sustainable design incorporates natural ventilation stack system and water source heat pump heating/cooling system. The Family Centre provides on site creche accommodation. The refurbishment of the Tower Block accommodation over 11 levels includes replacement of all electrical services, provision of mixed mode ventilation systems and comfort cooling from free cooling chiller source.
