Display Energy Certificates
Half of the UK's energy consumption arises from the way in which the buildings are lit, heated and used. Even comparatively minor changes a building’s energy performance would have a significant impact in reducing its energy consumption and carbon emissions.
From 1st October 2008, Display Energy Certificates are required for all PUBLIC BUILDINGS with floor space exceeding 1,000 sqm. DEC’s are intended to show visitors how well the building is being run based on the measurement of actual energy consumption, again with a rating on the A-G scale. DEC’s will need to be reviewed on an annual basis.
Accredited Building Energy Assessors
In order to implement these requirements and advise on improved measures, a certified Building Energy Assessor must be appointed.
