Education project success for new Plymouth Team

Following the recent opening of their Plymouth office, Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers are delighted to have been appointed to provide M&E Design for a number of exciting education projects in Devon and Cornwall.
Hulley’s Plymouth team are to provide M&E Design on the £27million redevelopment of Penwith College in Cornwall which merged with Truro College last year. Planning application for the demolition of substandard buildings, refurbishment of remaining buildings, and the provision of new buildings and associated works will all be included.
Since opening their new Plymouth office in November 2008, Hulleys have been appointed to provide works on the redevelopment of Brannel High School as well as High View Primary School, a new-build project in Plymouth.
Works will shortly commence on Brannel High School in St Austell which was saved from demolition after more than £16million worth of funding was secured by the Government and Cornwall County Council. The school, which has serious structural failings discovered after a routine maintenance check, was told it would have to close within three years if adequate funds were not raised.
High View Primary School is a £7m new-build scheme in Plymouth to provide new facilities for pupils of the existing Highfield and Plym View Schools which will merge. The school will provide the latest in renewable technologies such as rainwater harvesting, ground source heat pumps, passive solar design and natural ventilation.
