Hulley & Kirkwood appointed to work on pathfinder hospital

Hulley & Kirkwood Consulting Engineers have been chosen to provide M&E Design as part of the first NHS Frameworks Scotland project.
The scheme worth £120m will see the redevelopment of Dumfries Royal Infirmary for NHS Dumfries & Galloway. This is the first contract that has been awarded under Scotland’s new hospital procurement initiative in Dumfries.
The hospital will be the first in the country to feature 100% single room accommodation throughout and will include a new-build 200-bed wing, 23 modern ambulatory care and outpatient facilities, as well as improved intensive care, emergency care and support accommodation. It will entirely transform the existing building into a 21st Century healthcare facility.
Hulleys, who were appointed by BAM Construction, are joining a Project Team consisting of architects Nightingale Associates and BMJ Architects, health planner Tribal Consulting and project managers Turner & Townsend.

Construction work is due to begin onsite in April 2010 with completion anticipated for April 2013.
