Putting our best foot forward

30.10.08

The Edinburgh office recently saw two teams compete in the inaugral First Monster Duathlon in aid of Save the Children.  The challenge saw the teams take part in a combination of four running and four cycling stages around Loch Ness, covering a total of 120 kilometers around the legendary home of ‘Nessie’.

The two Hulley teams – nicknamed 'Huddle and Deadwood' and 'Cuddley and Driftwood' - competed alongside 186 other teams, which included celebrity participants such as Nell McAndrew, Ben Fogle and Gavin Hastings.

Michael O’Donnell, team captain and director at Hulley’s Edinburgh office, said: “Despite the hard slog we really enjoyed the challenge and both teams gave it their all. We’re delighted to have raised such a good sum for Save the Children.

“Of the two teams we entered, one junior and one senior, youth came out on top with a respectable 22nd placing for Cuddley and Driftwood. Unfortunately, some unforeseen technical difficulties meant the more experienced Huddle and Deadwood came in at a less spectacular – but no less hardly-earned - 178th.”

The ‘man of the match’ was Eoghan MacManus from the junior team who had the team storming up the leader board during his running stage, which he completed only one minute behind former star of track and field, Liz McColgan.
