Hulley & Kirkwood consolidates business in north of Scotland

Consulting engineer Hulley and Kirkwood has promoted Bruce Campbell to regional director in its Aberdeen office.
Meanwhile, David Banner has relocated from Birmingham to run the company’s Inverness office as senior engineer.
The moves are part of the company’s plans for continued growth and follow hot on the heels of its acquisition of a new office in Edinburgh, the opening of a new base in Cardiff and a new joint venture with ISD a well known consulting engineering firm in Ireland.
Together with Bruce’s promotion and David’s relocation, this means the company’s Inverness and Aberdeen offices are in a much stronger position to service the marketplace for building services design in the north of Scotland.
Bruce Campbell established Hulleys’ Aberdeen office when he first joined the firm six years ago and has been responsible for growing it to the size that it is today.
He said: “Read the headlines about the economy and you would think that we are on the brink of financial meltdown, but scratch under the surface, especially here in Aberdeen, and you see a very different picture.
“The market is more buoyant here due to the strength of the oil and gas industries and my promotion, together with David’s appointment to our Inverness base, means that over the coming years we can continue the sustained organic growth we have experienced here in Aberdeen and extend it across the north of Scotland.”
David Banner added: “Having been involved in the building services industry for 24 years the move to Inverness offers more opportunities to be involved with many interesting Projects, a number of which are community related and utilise renewable technologies.
“As a company we have done well in this area before, but I believe there is still untapped potential and it is my challenge now to turn this from a successful base into a thriving and growing team.”
Jim Costello, Hulley’s Industry Director, said: “Hulleys are rewarding the efforts of two committed individuals. Having such experienced people running two important offices in the Highlands as part of our national network means that we can consolidate and build on local opportunities. This is invaluable.”
Among the contracts recently won through the Aberdeen and Inverness offices are oil giant Chevron’s plans to refurbish additional parts of Seafield House in Aberdeen as well as a four star city centre restaurant and hotel development.
