Leading M&E Consultants, Hulley & Kirkwood are providing free mechanical and electrical engineering assistance to children’s hospice, Ty Hafan in Sully, South Wales, in a bid to upgrade and improve its facilities.
Ty Hafan is a well established and respected service to the community, purpose built and opened in January 1999 to provide support for families where one or more of their children suffer from a life-limiting illness.
As a registered charity, Ty Hafan was established entirely from public donations. Hulleys are delighted to be providing free M&E assistance for the project as a donation to this worthwhile charity. Hulleys have also been able to advise on the issue of grants related to sustainability for which Ty Hafan have shown considerable interest.
Hulleys recently established an office in Cardiff, the first in the Principality, and are keen to provide Ty Hafan with the latest in engineering and sustainability expertise.
Nigel Yemm, Director of Hulley’s Bristol office, comments: “We were approached to join the design team for Ty Hafan by property consultants King Sturge to assist with upgrading its facilities after nearly 10 years in operation. As the hospice relies on public funding we wanted to show our support and provide a free service as a gesture of good will."
“Due to the nature of the project, the sensitivity to which Hulleys approached this project has been a major consideration from the outset. Our team of engineers recently undertook a review of the building’s capabilities so that we can provide improvements to the functioning of the Hospice for the benefit of its patients and staff without disturbing the day to day running of the hospice.”
Cardiff Associate, Chris Jones adds: “The sensitivity required in the approach to such a project due to the nature of the operation remains vitally important. We are very pleased to be working with King Sturge on this project and are proud to be associated with this client”.
