SIMULATION

Modelling and Simulation Division

“We assist our Clients in creating and operating successful Buildings through the use of Sustainable Solutions”

The Government’s Building Regulations Part J, L1 and L2, and the proposals for implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive took effect in 2005. It is widely accepted that simulation defines a best practice approach to the assessment of energy, fluid flow and environmental design performance.

In response to this, Hulley & Kirkwood have invested heavily in developing our own simulation and dynamic modelling division, HulleySIM, using building energy and environmental modelling (BEEM) software.

This has been initiated thanks to our involvement with the Energy Systems Research Unit (ESRU) at the University of Strathclyde. ESRU was set up in order to assist energy sector companies by providing support and implementing in-house use of energy and environmental simulation packages. In order to ensure we successfully implement energy and environmental modelling capabilities we are participating in a Teaching Company Scheme (TCS Programme) focused on ‘driving’ building energy and environmental simulation across all of Hulley & Kirkwood’s UK offices.
