Lexus (GB) Chester

Retail and Mixed-Use

Project Title: Lexus (GB) Chester

Client: Lexus (GB)

Project Value: £0.7m

Hulley contact: David Livingston

As part of the Toyota Group, Lexus are now keen to establish their own clear identity and the most significant realisation of this was the commencement of their showroom roll-out program. Hulley & Kirkwood were approached to design the mechanical and electrical services for the proposed showroom in Chester and shortly thereafter the showroom/workshops in Hull.

The Chester development consisted of a 350m² single storey showroom facility complete with lounge, offices and handover bays. The building is of a steel frame construction with a large percentage of glazing to the front elevation.

An all air system was provided comprising an external air to air packaged heat pump suitable for ducted connection and low ambient air temperature operation. Supply air from the heat pump is filtered, heated, cooled and distributed via low velocity ductwork. Ductwork is routed from the plant area through the ceiling void to perimeter supply air diffusers. Supply air diffusers serving the showroom were perimeter bulkhead mounted eyeball type providing adjustable jet airflows.

The lighting within the showroom area is controlled via several digital timers set to provide alternating visual effects from one night to the next.
