Project Title: St Andrews House, Edinburgh
Client: Scottish Executive
Project Value: £20m
Hulley contact: David Stewart
The phased refurbishment of St Andrews House was completed over four phases while it remained occupied by the Scottish Executive. Prior to the refurbishment commencing, the building provided mainly Cellular Accommodation which has now been opened up to provide open plan office space in most areas. A low-profile cable management floor has been installed to contain the new power and data cabling services to the workstations. A new Media Centre has been provided for holding Press Conferences and presentations and comprises state of the art audio visual facilities.
The lighting installation in the main offices comprises suspended luminaries with up/down lighting components and integral control equipment which allows the luminaries to be switched and dimmed via the telephone handsets at each workstation. The luminaries are also linked to light sensors so that the artificial lighting can be controlled depending on the amount of natural daylight that is available.
The main offices are naturally ventilated, however, mechanical ventilation and air conditioning is provided in conference rooms, communications rooms and the main staff restaurant.
