Project Title: Ayr Sherriff Court
Client: Scottish Court Services
Project Value: £26m
Hulley contact: David Stewart
The redevelopment of Ayr Sheriff Court was carried out over four consecutive phases while the building remained in use by the Court Service. Two Courts had to remain operational throughout the contract and this required a detailed phasing strategy to be developed by the Design Team prior to the project starting on site. Two new Courtrooms were built as part of the project which then allowed two of the original Courts to be fully refurbished. The creation of new routes between the Custody Area and each of the Courts has greatly improved circulation within the building and increased the general security of the public and staff.
All Support Areas including Offices, Sheriffs’ Chambers, Libraries, Witness and Jury Rooms have been fully refurbished. All Courts have been equipped with modern IT Facilities, Sound Reinforcement Systems, Automatic Recording and Closed Circuit Television.
